    53-Year-Old TV Star Shares Her Secret To Maintaining A Slim Figure

    Broadcaster Choi Eun Kyung shared her secret to maintaining a 16.9% body fat rate even in her 50s.

    On the episode of KBS1’s Morning Yard aired on the 3rd, former announcer and broadcaster Choi Eun Kyung appeared as a guest and shared her story.

    During the segment “Just Rumors,” Lee Kwang Ki mentioned the rumor that she severely restricts carbohydrates to manage her figure. In response, Choi Eun Kyung candidly said, “I actually eat mostly carbohydrates. I really love rice cakes, bread, and snacks.”

    She explained, “I don’t exercise just for body management. For me, since I don’t drink alcohol or go out much socially, exercise became a kind of healing time—my time alone. I’ve been exercising consistently, not just recently; I worked out hard when I was an announcer. Back then, I swam, then one day started yoga and practiced it seriously, later got hooked on machine exercises, did Pilates, and because I wanted to get good at jump rope, I even did Taekwondo. I was supposed to get my 2nd Dan rank this January, but it overlapped with musical rehearsals, so I couldn’t practice and it’s a mess. So I haven’t been able to take the test yet.”

    She added, “I like exercising and eat everything. I don’t eat late-night snacks, nor do I overeat or binge. But I never limit the types of food I eat—I eat all kinds.” She continued, “I haven’t been able to work out much for about two months. It’s not that I haven’t exercised at all, but I’m supposed to do it four times a week, and I’ve only managed twice, so my activity level has dropped a lot. But because I’ve been consistent all my life, my muscles haven’t deteriorated too much.”

    She also offered advice: “There are people my age who are sick; I’ve been injured too. I hurt my elbow playing soccer and couldn’t use it for about three years. But you can overcome it. You shouldn’t be greedy with exercise. Don’t try to get ripped abs right away. First, just walk. People often ask me, ‘Should I do Pilates or strength training?’ Why spend money from the start? Just go out and walk. My favorite exercise is going to Namsan or the Han River. That alone makes you feel so much better.“
