Fans are not happy with his apology.

ZEROBASEONE‘s Park Gunwook is drawing mixed reactions after posting a second apology message following a recent controversy, with some fans telling the idol to stop apologizing and move on.

The controversy began during one of ZEROBASEONE’s recent fan events held as part of the group’s comeback promotions. During the event, members participated in a drawing to select a fan who would receive an additional Polaroid prize. Each member drew a number and announced it aloud. When it was Gunwook’s turn, he picked a slip of paper and stated that the number was “10.” However, after videos and close-up photos from the event began circulating online, some fans claimed that the number on the paper may not have actually been 10. Because the paper was slightly transparent, some netizens pointed to the shape visible through the slip, arguing that it appeared to be a 6 with an underline rather than a 10.

The allegations quickly spread online, with some accusing the idol of changing the number in order to benefit a specific fan. Others argued that the footage was too unclear to definitively prove anything.

As criticism mounted, Gunwook posted an apology addressing the situation.

However, after already apologizing once, the idol later returned with a second lengthy message to fans.

“I also wanted to tell the Zerose who were surprised after reading my long message yesterday that I’m sorry, so I’m writing this. First of all I thought that rather than making excuses, offering explanations, or staying silent, it would be better to at least acknowledge it to Zerose and ask for forgiveness. I thought that’s how we can have a future together. I think the criticism and misunderstandings caused by my immaturity are things that I should fully bear myself. Even so, I’m so sorry and also thankful that you’re trying to embrace my shortcomings and mistakes along with me. I’ll continue to grow both as a person and as a singer. I hope I can greet you again with a bright side of myself tomorrow! Have a good night I love you.”

While many fans appreciated his sincerity, others felt that the repeated apologies were unnecessary, even telling him to “shut up.”

Others criticized him for not addressing the actual issue.

How can you make two separate apologies without ever mentioning what you are apologising for and to whom… https://t.co/0YWpMMKOgA

What fans want is simply a direct apology.

i think people are surprised by the apology cause nothing is being addressed in its content. i really wish idol apologies were more direct because i can read this and it could apply to almost any situation https://t.co/lznOryZ8nd

The incident has since sparked debate among fans over whether idols’ vague apologies can pass muster even if they apologize profusely.
