    62nd Baeksang Arts Awards

    by tccolb

    Ryu Seung-ryong, Yoo Hae-jin

Fluffing their feathers and primped in their Friday best, stars flocked to the ruby carpet on the evening of May 8, 2026 to celebrate this year’s 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards, which was hosted once again by Shin Dong-yup, Suzy, and Park Bo-gum. And in remembrance of Lee Soon-jae, Ahn Sung-ki, as well as other entertainment legends who sadly crossed the rainbow bridge in the past year, the festivities included a tribute performance by Yoo Yeon-seok and music director Lee Byung-woo (found here).

The big night’s shiny grand prize in the TV and film categories, respectively, went to two long-standing industry veterans: Ryu Seung-ryong and Yoo Hae-jin. Making the Daesang extra special, the actors are incidentally old friends, having known each other since their struggling rookie days, when they were in the same theater troupe and even worked together briefly at a bidet factory – as mentioned in Ryu’s acceptance speech.

While Yoo Hae-jin has won several awards over the last couple decades, this year marks his first time receiving a Daesang. On top of being well-deserved, it’s also not a big surprise, considering the raving reviews of The King’s Warden in the recent months. Ryu Seung-ryong, on the other hand, has won previously in 2013 for his moving performance in the movie, Miracle in Cell No. 7. And he now has the additional honor of being the first actor to proudly shelve a Baeksang Daesang for both film and TV.

Selected from the many films, shows, and various media content that released between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026, a BIG congratulations to all the nominees and winners below!
