Jung Kyung-ho, Jeon Yeo-bin
- Jung Kyung-ho (Oh My Ghost Clients) and Jeon Yeo-bin (Ms. Incognito) are reportedly turning anchor and newsroom writer, respectively, in a new series called Disenchanted Romance (roughly translated). The Korean title uses the term ‟bul-hok” and is a reference to the Confucian teachings that people (supposedly) are not easily infatuated by worldly things when they turn 40. The series is in the early stages with PD Lee Chang-min (Cashero, Agency) attached to direct. [My Daily (1), (2)]
- On JTBC, we contemplate life’s inner battles with Gu Kyo-hwan (Parasyte – The Grey) in the first poster for We Are All Trying Here (previously, Everyone Struggles With Their Self-Worth). Slated to premiere in April next month, we can certainly expect a thought-provoking tale with Park Hae-young (My Liberation Notes, My Ajusshi) penning the scripts and PD Cha Young-hoon (Welcome to Samdal-ri, When the Camellia Blooms) at the helm. The lineup also includes Go Yoon-jung (Can This Love Be Translated), Oh Jung-se (Tempest), Kang Mal-geum (Surely Tomorrow), and Park Hae-joon (Tempest). [JTBC]
- Casting also continues on ENA’s upcoming The Scarecrow, with Seo Ji-hye (Family by Choice) now joining Park Hae-soo (The Price of Confession), Lee Hee-joon (Karma), and Kwak Sun-young (Crash). With production led by PD Park Joon-woo (Mary Kills People, Crash) and writer Lee Ji-hyun (Taxi Driver), the mystery-thriller will be coming to our screens in the Monday-Tuesday slot, later this year. - Kim Nam-gil (Trigger) is said to be in talks for SBS’s new sci-fi Nightmare (translated title), which would be badging Kim as a police detective once again. Exploring another ethical quandary by creating an AI system that infiltrates human dreams and manipulates them into nightmares, production for the crime-action is planning to start filming once the main casting has been finalized. PD Lee Dan (Taxi Driver 2, Our Beloved Summer) is directing with writing by Kim Kyu-won (Alice). [Newsen, Sports Donga]
- In the meantime, SBS is heading into the last leg of promos with the latest poster for the supernatural-comedy Phantom Lawyer. Looking ahead to next week’s premiere along with Yoo Yeon-seok (When the Phone Rings) and Esom (LTNS), the ghostly legal series will be broadcasting on weekends and beginning its 16-episode drama on March 13. Directed by PD Shin Joong-hoon (Seoul Busters, One Dollar Lawyer), Kim Ga-young and Kang Chul-kyu (Alice) co-handled the scripts. [SBS]
- On tvN, we’re unsettled by Mad Concrete Dreams in the newest poster, weaving a tangled tale of crime and suspense with our five leads: Ha Jung-woo (Narco-Saints) and Im Soo-jung (Low Life), in addition to Kim Joon-han (Newtopia), Krystal (Way Back Love), and Shim Eun-kyung (Way Back Love). Launching next weekend on March 14, the team is being led by filmmaker Im Pil-sung (Persona, Scarlet Innocence) and novelist Oh Han-ki (Baguette Child Soldier). [Newsen]
