ENA has announced its upcoming crime thriller The Scarecrow. Spanning three decades, the story follows the reluctant relationship between two men with an antagonistic history working together to take down a serial killer.
Stepping into the lead role of ace detective Kang Tae-ju is Park Hae-soo (The Price of Confession). After being demoted to his hometown of Kangseong, he begins to chase the Kangseong serial killer, but runs into trouble when the person he despises stands in the way of his investigation. In order to catch the killer, he will need to set aside his personal grievances and team up with his enemy.
Opposite Tae-ju is Lee Hee-joon (Nine Puzzles) as the elite prosecutor Cha Shi-young. He is in charge of the Kangseong serial killer case and uses the media spotlight to launch his political campaign. On the outside, he appears dapper and relaxed, but internally, he hides his deficiencies and anxiety from the world.
Joining the two leads is Kwak Sun-young as reporter Seo Ji-won. She was once elementary school classmates with Tae-ju, and now chases the truth alongside him by keeping a watchful eye on the police. She believes the case must be recorded and has a strong sense of duty as a reporter.
Also in the cast is Song Geon-hee (Karma) as Lee Ki-beom. He used to attend university in Seoul, but came back to his hometown to help out at his brother’s bookstore and protect those he loves. Playing Tae-ju’s younger sister and Ki-beom’s girlfriend Kang Soon-young is Seo Ji-hye (Family by Choice). As Tae-ju’s only remaining family, she constantly worries about his safety and gets caught up in the serial killer case. Last but not least, Jung Moon-sung (Resident Playbook) plays Ki-beom’s older brother Lee Ki-hwan. A quiet yet strong presence in the neighborhood, Ki-hwan has lived his entire life in the same town and grew up with Tae-ju and Ji-won.
Created by the team behind Taxi Driver, PD Park Joon-woo (Crash 2) grabs the megaphone while Lee Ji-hyun (Taxi Driver) pens the scripts. Set to premiere April 20, ENA’s The Scarecrow is slated for twelve episodes and airs in the Monday-Tuesday slot.
