According to Yonhap News, the police have assembled a force to maintain public order for the event by mobilizing personnel from the city and local police stations across the country. Nearly 7,000 officers are being mobilized, including 72 riot units and 35 investigation teams.
The main focus of the mobilization is on female police officers. This decision stems from the judgment that there is a significant need for female officers to handle body searches, as the majority of ARMYs expected to fill the venue are women.
However, as more officers are being deployed to meet this demand, the burden appears to shift towards police stations responsible for “neighborhood security.”
A team leader from another precinct stated, “It seems like they are bringing in officers who are off duty on the day of the performance. While it doesn’t seem like the number of staff on duty is being reduced, it’s a burden because those being mobilized will have to work without getting any rest.”
In particular, with many wedding venues in the Gwanghwamun area, the challenge of distinguishing between wedding guests and those attempting to watch the performance without permission has also arisen.
