While IU and Byeon Woo Seok’s chemistry has been a hot topic owing to their upcoming K-Drama, Perfect Crown, many K-Drama fans might be unaware that this project is their on-screen reunion, not debut.
On April 4, KST, both actors appeared as guests on the DdeunDdeun YouTube channel and shared fun anecdotes related to their upcoming drama. During the episode, the two revealed that their connection went far beyond this project.
When Yoo Jae Suk asked if Perfect Crown was their first drama together, IU and Byeon Woo Seok exchanged glances and broke into a smile before revealing that they had played a couple on a drama ten years ago!
IU explained, “Ten years ago, [Byeon Woo Seok] appeared in the drama, ‘Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryo,’ playing the role of my cheating boyfriend.” It was the first project where the two actors worked together.
Byeon Woo Seok revealed another one of their past connections, explaining that they had worked together for a music video as well. Byeon had briefly appeared in the teaser for IU’s music video, “Between the Lips.”

IU concluded that though they had shared the screen multiple times before, they truly became close while spending an extended period of time together for Perfect Crown. The drama is slated to premiere on April 10, KST, and will stream internationally on Disney+.
