Evil meets evil in SBS’s upcoming romantic comedy My Royal Nemesis (previously Wicked World) where Joseon’s worst villainess reincarnates into the present day and starts a war against a capitalist monster.
Im Ji-yeon (Nice to Not Meet You) takes on the role of Joseon’s greatest femme fatale Kang Dan-shim. A royal concubine who shook the court with her cunning, Dan-shim is eventually executed by poison for her actions. As she screams, “What is my crime?” Dan-shim is killed and wakes up suddenly in 2026. She now inhabits the body of struggling actress Shin Seo-ri, and the contrast between her past and her new present leads to plenty of hijinks and fish-out-of-water laughs.
Opposite our transmigrated heroine is Heo Nam-joon (A Hundred Memories) as Cha Se-gye. The only heir to Chail Group, Se-gye is an entitled, 21st century prince who is the absolute worst. However, in the face of an even bigger evil, Se-gye cannot find his bearings as Dan-shim runs circles around him.
Joining our wicked leads is Jang Seung-jo (As You Stood By) as Se-gye’s first cousin once removed, Choi Mun-do. He is an ambitious man who hides his true nature behind a gentle exterior and lives a double life. Also in the cast are Kim Min-seok (Typhoon Family) playing the unemployed Baek Kwang-nam and Seo-ri’s new acquaintance, Lee Se-hee (The Dream Life of Mr. Kim) stepping into the role of top actress and Seo-ri’s rival Yoon Ji-hyo, and Chae Seo-ahn (Pro Bono) playing the part of Mo Tae-hee, the third daughter of a chaebol group.
SBS’s My Royal Nemesis is directed by PD Han Tae-seob (Cheer Up, Stove League) with scripts written by Kang Hyun-joo (Lost in Starlight). The fourteen-episode fantasy rom-com is set to premiere sometime in May of this year.
