He did it with some sass.

BTS member Jungkook has finally spoken up about the controversy surrounding his now-deleted “drunk” livestream.

    Jungkook

The broadcast in question happened in late February, where Jungkook shared a rare, unfiltered glimpse of his drunk personality while hosting a livestream from his home with his friend. It quickly became controversial as many netizens started flaming the BTS member over multiple moments from the broadcast.

While usually live broadcasts on Weverse are saved afterward and made available for rewatching, Jungkook’s livestream was promptly deleted from the platform. The backlash, however, continued.

In his most recent live broadcast, Jungkook finally addressed this massively controversial broadcast, surprising many.

The singer suddenly went live in the early hours of April 8, KST, and had a heart-to-heart with ARMYs. He directly responded to the criticism surrounding the previous broadcast and asserted that he didn’t feel like he did anything wrong. However, he apologized to those fans who might have been uncomfortable seeing that new side of him.

🐰: I don’t think I did anything wrong. There were a lot of people who liked it, so I don’t think it’s my fault. And I don’t think I said anything wrong when speaking like this with ARMY.pic.twitter.com/CCIg5eVWMC

However, the singer also noted that his actions are subject to arbitrary scrutiny, arguing that playfully cursing at a friend wasn’t something that deserved this level of vitriol. He also anticipated his words being twisted and taken out of context, but emphasized that he didn’t think he was in the wrong.

(Reupload) Jungkook’s Apology over Recent Livestream Interaction with Friends:

🐰: Ah, right. I should apologize to ARMY before I go. Regarding my recent live stream… personally, I’m not really sure if I did something that wrong. But, I’m not a public figure, and people in… pic.twitter.com/il1CKwbp77

This polite yet firm response from Jungkook has drawn heated reactions from fans, who are upset that he even had to apologize for something they saw as a non-issue. Others were relieved that he knew not all fans felt the same way and had the confidence to defend himself against the baseless criticisms.

It upsets me that he feels like he has to apologize. He’s 28, let the man cuss. Let the man tell us he used to smoke. Let him keep being real, genuine and authentic with us. I love and respect him even more for that https://t.co/AlwpqI5sAS
