Reasons to watch: The new Wavve thriller Reverse walks us into what may be a new reality–or nightmare–for leading lady Seo Ji-hye. Go Soo costars alongside her, with Kim Jae-kyung joining them as second lead.
The drama is adapted from an online radio series that debuted several years back, and the story begins after a fiery explosion has landed Seo Ji-hye in the hospital. She’s recovering from a coma and a diagnosis of amnesia, and she’s shaken to realize she has no memories at all of the man claiming to be her devoted fiancé (Go Soo).
Seo isn’t content to live with an empty past, so she begins to look into the events around the explosion. Her close friend, Kim Jae-kyung, isn’t of much help and neither is fiancé Go Soo. Who is hiding what, and what happened leading up to that explosion? As she digs into the past by herself, her concern that she was the victim of a horrible crime twists into a fear that she may have committed a horrible crime thanks to fragments of memories that start to return.
The setup is interesting, and with viewers unsure of whose word (or memory) we can trust, the mystery aspect is something that we can unfurl alongside Seo Ji-hye. I’m ready for the mix of a taut psychological thriller with romance, and I’m looking forward to seeing how our main trio will play off of one another.
