A dose of happiness prescribed by Doctor on the Edge, Lee Jae-wook
by tccolb
Paging the Doctor on the Edge in ENA’s newest promos, Lee Jae-wook (Last Summer) has arrived on the island to serve his medical post, treating patients alongside Shin Ye-eun (The Murky Stream), and Hong Min-ki (To My Beloved Thief), as well as Lee Soo-kyung (When Life Gives You Tangerines), and Kim Yoon-woo (Gyeongseong Creature 1).
Similar to the actor in real-life, our story’s hero has enlisted to complete his mandatory army duty, though the scaredy-cat Do Ji-eui (Lee Jae-wook) is not quite cut out for the regular soldier life. But his special training does allow Ji-eui an alternative option, serving three years instead as a doctor at a remote government outpost and providing locals with much-needed medical care.
This is how Ji-eui finds himself on the seemingly peaceful Pyeondong Island, where he meets (and falls for) nurse Yook Ha-ri (Shin Ye-eun). But as we learn over the chaotic sequence, any emergency big or small can happen at any time at the public health clinic.
It’s thus a constant scramble for the team led by Joo In-young (The Murky Stream). And aided of course by fellow doctor Hyun Chi-yeon (Hong Min-ki), oriental medicine practitioner Yong Joo-chun (Kim Yoon-woo), and nurse Eom Jung-sun (Lee Soo-kyung). But while providing medical treatment to others, the webtoon-adaptation will be putting our characters on their own healing journeys, to find happiness, growth, community, and love.
The tale unfolds in two more weeks, starting on June 1, broadcasting in the Monday-Tuesday slot once The Scarecrow concludes its run. Production for ENA’s Doctor on the Edge is helmed by PD Lee Myung-woo (Boyhood, The Fiery Priest 1) with scripts by Kim Ji-soo (Pump Up the Healthy Love, Birthcare Center).
