Moon Sang-min sends his love To My Beloved Thief, Nam Ji-hyun
by tccolb
The countdown is on for 2026 and KBS is dedicating January To My Beloved Thief, entangling secret bandit Nam Ji-hyun (Good Partner) with Joseon prince Moon Sang-min (Cinderella at 2 AM) in the last round of promos for the upcoming romance sageuk.
The extended teaser begins with the royal report on the so-called righteous outlaw known as Hong Gil-dong, who has been skulking around at nightfall to empty wealthy pantries and pass on the supplies to those in greater need. And here enters prince Lee Yeol (Moon Sang-min) to graciously lend a hand to Joseon’s police bureau in order to catch the infamous thief. Ironically, Yeol’s investigations lead him straight to the culprit several times. But our lovestruck prince hasn’t yet discovered that Gil-dong’s true identity is Hong Eun-jo (Nam Ji-hyun).
Although Eun-jo’s father Kim Seok-hoon (Mother) comes from nobility and dotes on her with pride, our heroine is an illegitimate daughter and a slave by status, like her mother Seo Young-hee (Mary Kills People). But while her older half-brother Song Ji-ho (Lovely Runner) is idling at home, Eun-jo is the one out working as a physician to help support the family because Dad has fallen ill. The outside world is cruel, though, to members of the lower class and our fiery Eun-jo refuses to do nothing, further enamoring the smitten Yeol.
Adding to our story troubles, the dreaded love square makes its appearance in the sequence, showcasing second leads: Hong Min-ki (Trigger) and Han So-eun (The Haunted Palace). However, Yeol makes his feelings very clear and though Eun-jo tries to reason that her lower status spells doom, Yeol can see that she’s not unaffected and is not afraid of any obstacles standing in their way.
Directed by PD Ham Young-geol (The True Love of Madam, Anyone Anywhere) with writing by Lee Sun, KBS’s To My Beloved Thief will be premiering this weekend on January 3.
