Singer and actor Rain (also known as Jung Ji Hoon) cited constant self-management and the right attitude as essential “etiquette” to survive long in the entertainment industry.
On the 1st, in a video released on the YouTube channel “Season B Season,” INFINITE’s Nam Woohyun and VIXX’s Leo (also known as Jung Taek Woon), currently starring in the musical Sugar, appeared as guests and had an open conversation with Rain.
Leo shared his concerns after long years of group activities, saying, “As we continued team activities, the team has become more like a shadow, and I find myself thinking a lot about the next step.” He added, “I once heard a senior say, ‘It’s not the one who’s good who wins, but the one who lasts the longest.’”
Rain nodded and offered sincere advice to the juniors. He said, “There’s one thing I really want to say. The biggest thing to be careful of in this industry is becoming complacent.” He continued, “When you stay still, random thoughts like ‘Why am I like this?’ or ‘What should I do?’ just keep piling up.” He stressed, “Whether it’s working out or something else, you have to keep moving to clear your mind, and then things naturally start to work out. If you stay stuck when things aren’t going well, that’s the end.”
In response, Leo said, “Both Woohyun and I really put a lot of effort into self-care. We’ve been exercising for over ten years, and even tried eating one meal a day, but sometimes we wonder how long we can keep this up; it gets tough.” Rain firmly replied, “As long as you’re in this industry, you have to do it until you die.” He emphasized, “That’s the etiquette of being an entertainer. You can’t expect to get something for nothing without effort. You have to wear yourself out for the rewards to follow, and that’s when those rewards feel even sweeter.”
Lastly, Rain addressed the various ongoing incidents in the entertainment industry, saying, “When things go well while you’re idle, you tend to become even more complacent. That’s how incidents happen.” However, he also conveyed warm advice to the juniors, adding, “That said, there’s no need to be too impatient.”
