Half Of K-Pop Idol’s New Album Has Been Banned From Broadcast
On June 26, it was released, along with the music video for the title track, “Big Boy.”
The video featured a refreshing amount of different types of people, and the lyrics are very pro-everyone. At one point, the idol sings that his “gay boys, they love me.”
Big girls, you know you’re sexy
My gay boys, they love me, I like it
— “Big Boy” Lyrics
The music video also exhibits this, but it also appears to give some accidental advertisement to something else.
At one point during the music video, the screen becomes an advert for “big boys,” showing a phone number listed as “1-800-BIG-BOYS.”
With American phone numbers, the digits are assigned letters on the keypad, meaning that “1-800-BIG-BOYS” would be “1-800-244-2697.” When calling this number, an automated system welcomes to the “Hottest Gay Voice Dating” in North America.
Further listening reveals that the service is based on membership, but kindly offers a five minute free trial.
The audio does not give a specific name for the gay hotline, but you can see for yourself if you’d like.
