Mark Lee was recently caught up in controversy after being spotted wearing a shirt with a Confederate flag. Just after, he sparked even more fury with an Instagram update showing him doing a challenge with allegedly misogynistic lyrics, with his next public appearance also being hit with criticism.

Recently, the idol held his first public event in Thailand since leaving the group, where he greeted fans. During the event, he handed out postcards and participated in a hi-bye event, where fans were able to see him up close.

However, some have found issue with some of the things said by Mark and his team during and after the event.
For one, while addressing fans, Mark thanked those attending, saying that “a lot of new things are happening, but thank you for always staying the same by showing love and giving such a warm welcome.”

In an update to his label’s Instagram, a similar message was shared thanking fans for “always standing by Mark.”
For many online, these messages were seen as Mark “victimizing” himself over recent events. Some called these messages the “final nail in the coffin,” seemingly seeing it as “proof” of Mark’s real feelings.
