Former NCT member Mark Lee is facing criticism after a video surfaced of him using ChatGPT to read and interpret the Bible.
The clip, from an appearance on the CharlesNter YouTube channel, shows Mark and the host relying on AI for Biblical guidance rather than engaging directly with the text or human commentary.

What’s made the backlash hit harder is the context. Mark founded Upper Room — a label described as a Christian community built around faith — making his AI-assisted Bible reading feel especially contradictory to fans.

This isn’t the first controversy Mark has navigated since departing NCT and SM Entertainment. Just last week, Upper Room issued a public apology after photos surfaced of him wearing a Confederate flag shirt.
The label stated the vintage piece had been selected for its aesthetic, acknowledged the shirt’s deeply racist symbolism, and confirmed they “unequivocally reject racism, hate, discrimination, or any form of intolerance.”
