Now that IU and Lee Jong Suk have officially confirmed their split, fans are going back through the timeline and claiming the signs may have been there for months.
On July 10, both stars’ agencies confirmed the breakup, with the two reportedly choosing to remain on good terms as colleagues. The pair had been dating publicly since December 2022, making them one of the most closely followed couples in Korean entertainment for nearly four years.

This wasn’t the first time breakup talk had surrounded them. Last year, when photos surfaced of IU celebrating her birthday alongside BTS‘s V and actress Kang Han Na, fans quickly noted Lee Jong Suk’s absence and speculated the relationship had cooled.
A source close to the couple denied it at the time, saying they were “still happily together,” and both agencies remained quiet. The relationship carried on.

Both stars, meanwhile, had been visibly busy with individual work. IU spent the first half of the year starring in Perfect Crown, released her remake album Flower Bookmark 3, and is currently preparing new music and performances.
