Kim Hye-soo despairs that Cheating Is Not the Issue with Kim Ji-hoon

A quirky first teaser has dropped on Coupang Play, digging into why Cheating Is Not the Issue Here with the black comedy’s main four players: Kim Hye-soo (Unmasked) and Jo Yeo-jung (Made in Korea), as well as Kim Ji-hoon (Dear X) and Kim Jae-chul (Perfect Crown).
We begin the trailer on a happy scene, with interior decorator and influencer Kyung-hee (Kim Hye-soo) celebrating a new milestone for her channel now that they’ve received YouTube’s coveted gold plaque. And it’s smiles all around for the camera as Kyung-hee expresses gratitude for her dream-like life.
Their well-practiced smiles remain when Kyung-hee’s family is then invited over for dinner by their next door neighbor and dermatologist Soo-jung (Jo Yeo-jung). Although Soo-jung appears to be a perfectly friendly host, she has an odd fixation on Kyung-hee’s husband Jae-hong (Kim Ji-hoon) – who is an actor – remarking on his popularity with women and pointedly asks Kyung-hee if she feels insecure.
In the sequence, we also get a peek into Soo-jung’s own troubled marriage with ex-husband Bo-sung (Kim Jae-chul) and it ended quite badly. He took the dog, leaving Soo-jung in tears. But though we don’t see it in the teaser, Bo-sung lost the arguably bigger custody battle for their daughter.
Soo-jung was right, though, in sensing that all is not well in Kyung-hee’s marriage. And suspecting that Jae-hong is having an affair, Kyung-hee secretly follows him out one day to his shady hideout. We then close on our horrified heroine as she discovers the even more terrible truth, making Kyung-hee ruefully wish she’d rather her husband be cheating on her instead.
Slated to premiere this month on July 31, the crime-suspense has PD Lee Chang-hee (A Killer Paradox, Hell Is Other People) at the helm with scripts co-penned by Jung Eun-kyung and Park Soo-rin.
