Made in Korea 2 pits Hyun Bin against brother Woo Do-hwan

    by tccolb

Promos continue on Disney+ with new posters and a video teaser for the period-noir Made in Korea 2, pushing Hyun Bin (Crash Landing on You) to question who is friend and who is foe when pitted against Woo Do-hwan (Bloodhounds 2) as well as Jung Woo-sung (Tell Me That You Love Me) in the upcoming new season.

Nine years have since passed when we re-meet our characters  and Baek Ki-tae (Hyun Bin) has risen to the powerful position of deputy director of the KCIA (Korean Central Intelligence Agency), gritting his teeth and hiding his claws in order to achieve success. All the while, Ki-tae has also been lining his pockets, thanks to his lucrative business dealings with yakuza boss Won Ji-ahn (Surely Tomorrow).

The sequence is interspersed with real(ish) history, indicating the stepping stones to Chun Doo-hwan’s presidency/dictatorship in 1980. Against this backdrop, Jang Geon-young (Jung Woo-sung) has turned from prosecutor to special advisor in a joint investigations team at the martial law enforcement headquarters. And this gives him an office directly opposite from the desk of the now lieutenant-colonel Baek Ki-hyun (Woo Do-hwan).

Torn between his job and his brother, Ki-hyun is forced to choose a side when he learns about Ki-tae’s involvement in drug trafficking. And though he is tired of being used like a pawn, Ki-hyun is not unshaken by the threatening reminder that their whole family is in danger if Ki-tae goes down. The hot seat then goes to Ki-tae next as the trailer closes, pressing him to think again about where his loyalties should lie.

With Seo Eun-soo (Chief Detective 1958), Jung Sung-il (Unmasked), and Noh Jae-won (If Wishes Could Kill) also reprising their roles in this sequel, Disney+’s Made in Korea 2 will be launching next month on September 9, releasing two episodes a week for a total of 6 episodes. Filmmaker Woo Min-ho (Harbin) remains at the helm, alongside A Normal Family screenwriters, Park Eun-gyo (Mother) and Park Joon-seok.
