Ahn Bo-hyun and Lee Sung-min must find the Sacred Jewel

Sounding the drums on JTBC’s Sacred Jewel, the first video teaser warns that danger is nigh in the early 13th century, where we meet our leads – Ahn Bo-hyun (Flex x Cop 2) and Lee Sung-min (Teach You a Lesson) – in a Goryeo era that has been ravaged by war against the invading Mongol troops.
It’s been thirty long years of fighting already when the drama’s story begins in the year of 1258. And here, the fierce but battle-weary army chief Choi Gu (Lee Sung-min) is struggling to stay standing while the bloodshed continues all around him. In a risky bid for hope though, under orders of the Emperor, a skilled warrior group is assembled to find and bring back a special relic (i.e. the title’s sacred jewel) that will help protect the kingdom of Goryeo. Or so the legend goes.
This quest of course includes the very experienced Choi Gu. But to his initial disbelief, the young Baek Gyeol (Ahn Bo-hyun) is appointed the commander of this mission and together with their navigator Ha Yoon-kyung (The Apartment Job), they form a ragtag team. We can also expect to see Soo-hyun (Gyeongseong Creature 2) and Yoon Kyun-sang (Law and the City), in addition to Kim Do-hyun (Undercover Miss Hong), Kang Mal-geum (We Are All Trying Here), and Jung Jin-young (The Apartment Job), among other talents, as the action-sageuk unfolds over 14 episodes.
Production for the series has PD Jung Dae-yoon (Reborn Rich) at the helm with scripts penned by Jung Hyun-min (Nokdu Flower). Slated to broadcast in the weekend slot, JTBC’s upcoming Sacred Jewel will be premiering sometime this December and will be available for international streaming on Amazon Prime.
