Disney+’s period-noir Made in Korea 2 welcomes in a new era with Hyun Bin (Crash Landing on You), Jung Woo-sung (Tell Me That You Love Me), and Woo Do-hwan (Bloodhounds 2) in the sequel’s latest poster and trailer set.
October 26, 1979. Park Chung-hee has been assassinated, bringing his 18-year dictatorial reign to a halt. This is the moment Baek Ki-tae (Hyun Bin) has been waiting for, and with this change, the ambitious agent rises to the top as the department head of the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA).
The ensuing power vacuum brings out people’s greed, and among them is season one’s Jung Sung-il (Unmasked) who accepts Ki-tae’s offer to work together. Unfortunately, the latter’s own brother Baek Ki-hyun (Woo Do-hwan) may stand in opposition to their alliance as he gets tasked to investigate their slush fund, but the real trouble comes when Ki-tae’s rival and former prosecutor Jang Geon-young returns to cut off the airways of his enemies.
While Ki-tae continues business with yakuza boss Won Ji-ahn (Surely Tomorrow), he convinces himself that his actions are patriotic, but the moment he succumbs to his greed, war becomes inevitable. Against a backdrop of political turmoil, one man forges ahead — a very familiar balding head for anyone aware of history — while civil unrest reaches new heights.
As everyone scrambles to take control, only two options remain: steal or get stolen. With Seo Eun-soo (Chief Detective 1958) and Noh Jae-won (If Wishes Could Kill) reprising their roles as well, guns are drawn on all sides, but who will stand when the dust settles and how will history remember them?
Also returning to season two are filmmaker Woo Min-ho (Harbin) and screenwriter Park Eun-gyo (A Normal Family). Disney+’s Made in Korea 2 premieres September 9 and releases two episodes every Wednesday for a total of six episodes.
