Woo Ji Won’s daughter Woo Seo Yoon has been crowned the winner of Miss Korea 2026, but her victory has already sparked some harsh reactions online.
The 22-year-old was crowned “Jin,” the highest title at the 70th Miss Korea pageant. The final competition was held on August 22 in Seoul.
Before winning the top title, Woo Seo Yoon had been selected as a “Sun” representative for Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon.
She is the eldest daughter of former basketball player Woo Ji Won and is currently studying fine art at Tufts University in the United States.
Woo Seo Yoon has also appeared alongside her father on variety shows, including Star Junior Show Bungeoppang and My Child’s Romance 2. Photos from those appearances are now making the rounds online.
Once the photos started trending on Korean community sites, her win drew scathing criticism rather than praise.
Many netizens argued “Miss Korea” is not as relevant now as it was in the past, while others made harsh remarks about plastic surgery.
- “She must have been insecure about having small eyes. Even after getting plastic surgery, she takes pictures with her eyes open so wide. Just open them naturally when you take pictures. It’s scary. Her eyes aren’t even small when she doesn’t open them that wide, so please stop doing that.”
- “Miss Korea used to be a big deal, but now nobody cares. It’s basically a competition within their own little circle.”
- “Isn’t Lee Honey the last Miss Korea that the general public actually knew? After her, people don’t even know if the Miss Korea pageant is still happening, let alone who wins Jin, Sun, or Mi. Nobody cares at all.”
- “The older women I saw on YouTube were genuinely beautiful. My uncle says that after they stopped being allowed to appear on TV, there haven’t been women like that anymore. It’s turned into Temu Miss Korea.”
