A Korean star candidly shared her honest feelings about the labels that have followed her since her divorce, reflecting deeply on her past career in the entertainment industry.
On September 2nd, a video was released on YouTube featuring Kim Sae Rom, who marked her 22nd year since debut, opening up about her previously unrevealed inner thoughts.
In the video, Kim Sae Rom visited her regular restaurant and had an honest conversation with the production team, recalling, “From others’ perspective, it might seem like I took a break, but whether it was home shopping or my personal channel, I have always been working somewhere and have never actually rested,” reminiscing on her tireless and dedicated efforts.
She also spoke frankly about the fact that, even after 10 years since her divorce, she is still tagged with the label “divorced single.” She admitted, “To cover one frame, you need a bigger frame, and since I didn’t engage in any representative activities that could leave a strong impression, it’s true that I haven’t escaped that label.”
She added, “While dislike and understanding are different, I do understand that situation.” She went on to express a more mature attitude, saying, “Rather than forcing myself to cover it up, I believe that if I keep working hard naturally, the day will come when people will change their perception of me through my career.”
Kim Sae Rom also cited advice she received early in her career from broadcaster Kim Yong Man as a pillar in her life. She shared, “When I started on Section TV Entertainment News, Mr. Kim Yong Man told me, ‘Don’t rush, but don’t get tired,’” expressing deep gratitude by saying, “That phrase has been my biggest source of strength through hardships for 20 years.”
She added a simple wish to remain a familiar and approachable broadcaster, comparing herself to a “permanent manager” in the entertainment industry who may never be promoted but consistently holds her position.
Kim Sae Rom, who announced her divorce about a year after marrying chef Lee Chan Oh in 2015, has reinforced her strong determination for a sincere career through this confession, receiving warm support from many viewers and the public alike.
