SEVENTEEN‘s Hoshi shared he tore his ACL while practicing with the Army Taekwondo Demonstration Team.
In a post from Hoshi onto SEVENTEEN’s Weverse page, he shared the unfortunate news with CARAT around the world.
Hello CARAT.
This might be some surprising news, so I am writing this carefully for you all.
I injured my knee while practicing with the Army Taekwondo Demonstration Team. After getting an examination, I was diagnosed with a full tear of my anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
Due to this, I will have to focus on recovery and rehabilitation after getting surgery, so I will no longer be able to participate in the previously scheduled Taekwondo Demonstration Team events or the Army Ground Forces festival.
I had worked hard to prepare for these performances since I was truly looking forward to them, so it is very disappointing that I cannot participate. I feel very sorry to the CARATs who were looking forward to them.
Although I cannot participate, I hope everyone will show lots of support to the Taekwondo Demonstration Team and the Army Ground Forces Performance Team, of which Jihoon (Woozi) is part of.
I will make sure to get proper treatment and focus on my recovery and rehabilitation so I can return in good health as soon as possible.
Please don’t worry too much!
Horanghae

A torn ACL is a major injury where the ligament attaching your femur to your tibia ruptures. The ACL prevents the knee from bending or rotating too far. Hoshi was diagnosed with a full tear, which would be a grade three injury, the most severe. Recovery time is typically at minimum six months, with many athletes who suffer ACL tears sitting our nearly an entire calendar year before returning to action.
