Investigation Into The Disappearance Of YG Entertainment Artist Launched

An investigation into a YG Entertainment artist, who has been missing since 2010, has been launched.

On September 17th, the official social media of SBS‘s famous investigative show Unanswered Questions posted a tip request along with old photos of Perry Thomas Borja, seeking anyone who knows his current status.

The production team stated, “We are waiting for tips from anyone who knows about Perry, a rapper and producer who has been active in the Korean music scene since the mid-1990s but was last seen in Los Angeles, USA, in 2010 and has since been reported missing, or anyone who is in contact with his family.”

The released image showed Perry in a white shirt with his hands clasped. Next to the photo, it was explained that Perry is a rapper and producer last seen in 2010 in Los Angeles, along with contact information such as phone number and email for submissions.

Perry played a significant role in shaping YG Entertainment’s early musical style. Born in the USA, Perry had been active in the Korean music industry since the 1990s, becoming known as an early member and producer of the YG family. He participated in music production for YG artists including Jinusean, 1TYM, Seven, Wheesung, and Lexy, helping to build YG’s distinctive hip-hop sound at the time.

He also worked as a solo artist, releasing a solo album in 2001, and gained recognition as a rapper through songs featuring G-Dragon, Sean, and Masta Wu.

Perry was involved in BIGBANG’s early music as well, contributing to multiple tracks during their debut, with the 2010 Japanese release “Beautiful Hangover” known to be one of his last works associated with YG.

However, his activity effectively stopped after that. Especially since he was last seen in Los Angeles in 2010, no clear updates have been reported, leading to various theories about his whereabouts among domestic and international fans for a long time.

Netizen reactions came promptly: “He really was missing. I thought he was living well somewhere,” “I thought it was just a rumor,” “Finally, Unanswered Questions is covering it,” “Please let’s find Perry,” and “I sincerely want to know how he’s doing.”

One netizen even called Perry “the origin of YG,” expressing both delight and surprise. Others focused on the fact that the tip request from Unanswered Questions confirmed the story wasn’t fabricated, saying, “So this wasn’t photoshopped,” and “It was real, not just a rumor.”

Although Perry was an early producer who shaped the hip-hop style before YG grew into a major agency, he suddenly vanished from the public eye. With Unanswered Questions beginning to trace his whereabouts after nearly 16 years, attention is focused on whether his current status can finally be confirmed.
