What if the beauty and the beast weren’t two separate beings, but two sides of the same coin? Script reading stills are out for Netflix’s upcoming fantasy romance Beauty in the Beast, featuring the romantic flutters and identity crises of a modern were-human.
Kim Min-joo (Undercover High School) stars as Ha Min-soo, by far the most successful werewolf to have integrated smoothly into society. Even if she may come across as somewhat stiff, she has a warm heart that genuinely likes humans. Having done well up to this point, Min-soo’s aim is to continue living in peace alongside humans without tearing them into shreds and gobbling them up. That won’t be easy, though, when she undergoes a monstrous transformation every full moon.
Further complicating matters is Lomon (Family Matters) as Lee Do-ha, another fellow werewolf. Given that there aren’t many of them left in this world, perhaps he’ll strike up a camaraderie with Min-soo? Then again, Do-ha has always been a lone wolf (quite literally). Regardless of what others think, Do-ha lives by his own rules, charging ahead rather than suppressing his instincts. It’s a sharp contrast to Min-soo, whose meek demeanor frustrates Do-ha – but also keeps weighing on his mind.
At university, Min-soo also crosses paths with Moon Sang-min (Cinderella at 2AM) as her sunbae Kwon Hae-joon. Contrary to his sharp gaze and intimidating first impression, Hae-joon’s affable demeanor is akin to a large puppy. Although he usually doesn’t pay much notice to those around him, Min-joo’s strange behavior winds up catching his attention. Will Min-soo be able to hide her secret, or will these two boys get tangled up in her transformations?
Directed by Jin Hyuk (The Tale of Lady Ok) with scripts written by Jin Han-sae (Extracurricular), Beauty in the Beast has yet to set a potential air date.
