Stray Kids has reportedly made a decision on this year’s GRAMMYs following confirmation that the ceremony’s new Asian Pop category will go ahead.

According to Sports Kyunghyang on October 2, Stray Kids did not submit any works for the 69th Grammy Awards before the deadline. Under the awards’ rules, songs and albums that are not officially submitted cannot enter the nomination review or appear on the voting ballot.

The news lands just one day after Billboard named Stray Kids one of the major contenders for the Asian Pop award. This & That, released August 7, became their ninth number one album on the Billboard 200, while its title track hit No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100 — their highest placement to date.

Stray Kids’ move follows the call BTS made earlier this year. In July, after the Recording Academy first announced the Asian Pop category, BTS said they would not submit in a decision that has widely been referred to as a “boycott.”

Now, while many fans are glad to see Stray Kids make the same decision…

The way Hyunjin and Seungmin already said that they want everyone to enjoy their music and never they needed that western validation how other kpop group fans claim Skz ever since that category made https://t.co/QddfuYrvtS pic.twitter.com/Cm6cWfEhsK

good. cuz the fuckass grammys made a whole separate “best asian pop performance” category as if asian artists need their own little regional box instead of being recognized alongside everyone else https://t.co/F0juFaGwJq

… others have ridiculed the group, claiming their chances of winning were low regardless of submission.

Why are Stray Kids acting like they’re some huge deal? Didn’t the Grammys reject all their submissions in previous years? 😭 Are they genuinely that delusional, or is this just another performance to make themselves look important? https://t.co/JcIWsZi43m

Despite Stray Kids’ choice not to make a submission, all eight members of are still part of the Recording Academy as voting members following their appointment this year.
