An 87-year-old actress was spotted at an entertainment venue in Cheongju. Known for her extraordinary frugality and “stingy” image, she caught attention with a different look, dancing joyfully to lively music.
On October 4th, a YouTuber made a post, saying, “Breaking news: Jeon Won Joo just appeared at my place,” along with several videos.
In the videos, Jeon Won Joo was seen spending time inside the venue with a bright expression. A explained they are personally acquainted, mentioning that they introduced Jeon to a junior’s wedding in the past and have met several times in Cheongju.
There was an unexpected moment when the venue manager, not recognizing Jeon Won Joo, commented that she resembled Jeon Won Joo. Jeon cleverly responded, “I actually hear that a lot.”
Later, Jeon held hands with a male customer who recognized her and danced with him as a fan service. Throughout the video, she smiled brightly and enjoyed the music. A described Jeon’s behavior as professional fan service to the customer who recognized her.
This was a surprising contrast to Jeon Won Joo’s usual image of frugality, which she has openly shared multiple times on broadcasts.
Jeon has long been regarded as one of the entertainment industry’s top savers. She is known for meticulously tracking even small expenses and actively investing, reportedly building assets worth around ₩3.00 billion KRW (about $2.23 million USD), making her a hot topic on various programs.
Recently, on YouTube, she amused viewers by candidly discussing men. On close friend Sunwoo Yongnyeo’s channel, Jeon casually continued talking about men during a charcoal sauna conversation, leading to a playful remark from Sunwoo that went viral.
The recent sighting at the Cheongju venue is attracting interest because it shows Jeon Won Joo enjoying herself dancing, which differs from her frugal persona.
Born in 1939, Jeon Won Joo is 87 years old this year. She debuted in 1963 as a voice actress for Dong-A Broadcasting and has been active in broadcasting for over 60 years.
