A K-Pop boy group idol shared an episode about the actions a “fan” took to show just how much they actually hate him.
On October 27th, a short video titled “The Courage to Be Hated” was posted on INFINITE’s official YouTube channel. The video is an unreleased segment from the counseling content released on the 22nd, featuring members Nam Woohyun, Kim Sunggyu, and Lee Sungyeol having a conversation.
In the video, Kim Sunggyu recalled receiving a letter ahead of a past performance. He said, “I was handed a letter before the performance and when I read it, all three pages were full of insults about me. They criticized my singing, acting, and even my life,” sharing his shock at the time. He added, “Seeing that someone put so much effort and time into insulting me, I thought there must be someone who really wanted to hurt me.”
However, the letter also helped him change his mindset. He said, “I was hurt and discouraged after reading that letter, but then I read another one. Several pages were filled with encouragement for me. There were far more of those.”
Lee Sungyeol and Nam Woohyun also agreed, saying, “There are far more people who support us. Over 90 percent.”
Kim Sunggyu said, “There are so many people who care about me this much, so I don’t think I need to lose that image and try to change myself or live with a false persona,” sharing his realization that “the courage to be hated is necessary.”
Meanwhile, INFINITE continues to communicate with fans by releasing daily life and talk content of the members through their official YouTube channel.
