A beloved actress visited the funeral home of the late Choi Bool Am to pay her respects, sparking an unexpected debate over her attire at the time.
On October 30th, Kim Ji Young and her husband, actor Nam Sung Jin, visited the late Choi Bool Am’s funeral home set up at Seoul Asan Medical Center in Songpa-gu, Seoul to offer condolences.
That day, Kim Ji Young wore a black leather jacket, dark skinny jeans, and white sneakers. She paired this with a handbag featuring a gold chain decoration, and her relatively heavy makeup also drew attention.
After photos of Kim Ji Young’s appearance during her visit circulated online, a controversy broke out regarding her outfit. Some criticized it as inappropriate considering the solemn nature of a funeral.
However, others responded that judging one’s sincerity of mourning based solely on clothing was excessive. They argued that harsh criticism of personal attire was inappropriate.
Kim Ji Young and Nam Sung Jin had a special bond with the late Choi Bool Am, having worked closely with him for a long time through the MBC drama Country Diary.
In an interview with reporters after visiting the funeral home, Kim Ji Young said, “He was like a father and teacher. We were always grateful, and he was very precious and important to us, so it’s so sad that we can no longer see him again. I pray that he rests peacefully in eternity.”
Nam Sung Jin also said, “To us, he was like a mentor who taught us a lot beyond acting. It’s hard to believe. I hope he goes to a good place and rests peacefully.”
After the interview, Kim Ji Young turned away in tears, while Nam Sung Jin comforted her by patting her shoulder.
