Im Siwan explained what it’s like to work with SM Entertainment for his singing career and THE BLACK LABEL for his acting career.
In episode 122 of the web variety show Salon Drip, released on January 13, actor Im Siwan appeared.
Regarding his album, Im Siwan said, “The title track ‘The Reason’ is a warm love song. Even first-time listeners will find it easy to sing along.” He added, “I didn’t take much ownership this time. I felt that these weren’t just experts, but seasoned experts. I thought it might be presumptuous to make suggestions myself. It’s better to focus on the overall quality. To truly feel the sensitivity of a seasoned expert, I needed to fully listen to what they had to say. If I spoke first, I might miss a valuable learning opportunity.”
Im Siwan added, “I didn’t plan to hype up the album this much, but with the remarkable agencies involved, it has grown immensely, far beyond my modest intentions.” He continued, “I signed with SM about a year ago for music-related activities because I wanted to connect with fans through this stage. After that, I joined THE BLACK LABEL for my acting projects,” explaining why he collaborates with both agencies.
When Jang Do Yeon asked, “Who manages you during your singing activities?” Im Siwan replied, “This is an unusual experience for me, but managers come from both places. It’s like a grand merger of two great agencies, SM and THE BLACK LABEL. Something like this is happening.”
Jang Do Yeon asked, “Is this like a religious unification between Christianity and Buddhism? Is the SM building a free environment, and is THE BLACK LABEL the same way?” Im Siwan answered, “Yes. I record at SM and work on projects at THE BLACK LABEL. I’m new to this, but at SM, when you release an album, they wrap the coffee cup holders at the first-floor café as a congratulatory gesture. THE BLACK LABEL has a space where you can work out when busy and a room to review scripts.”
