While Catch The Young haven’t exactly caught the charts on fire, they’ve slowly and steadily built a solid discography. Today marks the release of their first full album — a huge achievement for any band. This project is led by title track Amplify, which takes their rock sound in a more energetic direction.
I prefer Catch The Young’s music when its at its most upbeat and anthemic. Amplify fits that description, galloping out of the gate with plenty of energy. It’s a feel-good rock singalong, building toward a catchy chorus that segues into a fast-paced guitar riff. The schtick gets a bit repetitive as the song goes on, mostly because the chorus is so breathless and explosive and isn’t always set-up in a way that compliments this continual pay-off. However, I think this would work very well in a live setting. It would certainly pump up the crowd!
