Comedian Park Na Rae is embroiled in controversy over allegations of abuse of power and other issues, and is currently in conflict with her former manager over embezzlement of event fees.
On the 19th, a media outlet reported that 30 million won in event fees from company L, which should have been paid to Park Na-rae’s agency, ANPARK, was instead transferred to the account of YYAC, a corporation represented by her former manager, A. YYAC is a separate company established in August 2015 for entertainment business purposes and is independent from ANPARK.
Park Na Rae’s side stated, “At the time, we never received any reports from A. It was only later, through direct communication between Park Na Rae and company L, that the full story was revealed.”
According to the report, on July 17 last year, A sent company L an individual business registration certificate and bankbook copy of YYAC in response to a request from a company L representative who needed these documents to draft a contract. Subsequently, company L transferred the event fee of ₩30.0 million KRW (about $20,400 USD) to the YYAC account at A’s request.
After the report, A immediately denied the allegations in a media interview, asserting, “Receiving the event fee into YYAC was done after consulting with Park Na Rae beforehand.” They maintained that all transactions, transfers, contracts, advertisements, and events proceeded with Park Na Rae’s confirmation.
A further stated that they had already responded to this matter during police questioning on the 20th of last month.
According to A, YYAC was established in 2015, and Park Na Rae was aware of the corporation. However, they did not explain why the event fee was paid into the YYAC account, firmly denying any embezzlement, saying, “It is definitely not embezzlement.”
