Period dramas don’t immediately refer to historicals, these days as time moves forward even what feels like just yesteryear is now a “period” piece with defined aesthetics and bygone elements. Netflix has released the first stills for the K-drama Tantara (Korean title Show Business) set in the modern era of South Korean entertainment, it starts in the 1960s and goes through the 1980s. The leads are Song Hye Kyo and Gong Yoo, a first collaboration for the two despite entering showbiz and becoming popular in the same era. It’s like if Full House and Coffee Prince had a serious baby lol. Joining them are supporting leads Cha Seung Won, Honey Lee, and Seolhyun, and probably a large swatch of the character and veteran actors in K-ent. It’s scheduled to be a 22-episode drama and likely to be split into seasons or perhaps discreet releases of episode batches.
