Is Ryeoun a killer or a savior in Bloody Flower?

    by lovepark

A killer or a savior? That’s the question posed by Disney+’s upcoming thriller Bloody Flower as medical genius Ryeoun (Weak Hero Class 2) stands at the precipice of life and death. With Sung Dong-il (Pro Bono) standing on one side of the law and Geum Sae-rok (Iron Family) on the other, who will prevail in this court of blood?

The latest trailer opens to a room washed in red as serial killer Lee Woo-gyeom (Ryeoun) takes off his scrubs. The scene then moves forward to his capture, and in an interrogation room, Prosecutor Cha Yi-yeon (Geum Sae-rok) asks him when he planned to stop. As the investigation uncovers his victims, Woo-gyeom dryly answers, “Seventeen. That was the end.”

He claims that his experiment was a success and smiles serenely at his captors as if he expected this outcome. In contrast, Attorney Park Han-jun (Sung Dong-il) is confused when Woo-gyeom specifically asks for him, and though he turns down the position, Woo-gyeom says that he will come back. The trailer then reveals Han-jun’s sick daughter, and the pieces start to fall into place.

Every one of Woo-gyeom’s victims had a certain component in their bodies, and the evidence seems to line up with the killer’s claims of having found a universal cure that can treat anything. Then a week before his arrest, he made a call, and Han-jun wonders if this whole scenario has been orchestrated by Woo-gyeom.

With everyone playing to the piper’s tune, Yi-yeon pushes for the death penalty while Han-jun asks the judge for a chance to let Woo-gyeom make his cure. However, what really started this case may not be Woo-gyeom at all, and as the courts side with Han-jun, the public backlash grows. Has the killer truly found a way to save lives or was this all a preparation for something sinister?

Premiering next week on February 4, Bloody Flower drops two episodes every Wednesday for a total of eight.
