Xdinary Heroes drummer Gunil is going viral for hitting back at the racism faced by foreigners in Korea in a debate.

Gunil recently appeared on the Korean show The Logic, which features participants debating various topics.

A clip is going viral among netizens as one of the topics was about “foreign neighbours” being designated as “public safety zones,” and Gunil was opposing the motion.

The idol took his time as an “immigrant” when he lived in America for a decade, and how it would have felt if that had been rolled out towards Koreans. In particular, he hit back at the idea that nationality is the cause of crime, instead bringing up reasons like overty, unemployment, and social alienation.

Within a day of being posted, the tweet had over 15,000 likes and had been viewed over a million times.

“Should neighborhoods where many foreigners live be officially designated as ‘special public-safety zones” [Gunil – opposition]

🐹 Player 45 you keep talking about the future. You mentioned that we need to think about the future generation. Let me briefly share my experience. As… pic.twitter.com/aXZ1i1TE6b

Netizens couldn’t stop praising Gunil’s mature answer, explaining how it seemingly hit back at the “racist” mentality that many foreigners faced when they were in Korea.

“But the main causes of crime are not nationality, they’re factors like poverty, unemployment, and social alienation”….IN CONCLUSION FUCK CAPITALISM, FUCK NEO IMPERIALISM, FUCK THE UNFAIR SYSTEM. https://t.co/4RJcHaRNms

gunil explicitly saying “that’s racist” to something that is inherently racist and then losing? https://t.co/93ZoUVErQw

Cleared that bitch and he lost.. He made three very clear points. The main cause of crime isn’t your race or nationality or immigration status. It’s poverty, lack of education, unemployment, etc. And racism plays a huge role in keeping certain groups of people at the bottom https://t.co/COKvRYKULQ

him saying the system is racist and purposely set up to make people fail especially knowing how things are looking for immigrants and STILL losing this is nuts https://t.co/c4hEMk7a75

The OP shared that Gunil, unfortunately, lost the debate, which sparked even more shock.

would you believe me if i said that gunil still lost even after delivering good points during the debate… i’ll post the full debate but i don’t think i even want to share what the other guy said tbh 😓 pic.twitter.com/vksCSI0SAj
