It was previously stated by Fantagio that the grilled eel restaurant linked to ASTRO Cha Eunwoo‘s tax evasion allegations was run by Fantagio’s subsidiary and had nothing to do with the Cha family.
Fantagio Denies Claims Regarding Cha Eunwoo’s Eel Restaurant, Triggers Even More Backlash
A representative from Fantagio told Xportsnews that the Cheongdam corporation is separate from the one in Ganghwa-do. Eoyeoyeon Charcoal Grilled Eel was established in October 2022 as an eel restaurant located in Ganghwa-do and has in fact been operated by Cha Eunwoo’s family. The restaurant is also known as the registered address of a corporation established by Cha Eunwoo’s mother.
Some have claimed that the restaurant relocated to Cheongdam-dong in Seoul’s Gangnam District late last year and reopened under a new name. However, Fantagio denied this, clarifying that Eoyeoyeon Cheongdam has no connection to Cha Eunwoo’s family and is instead operated by Fantagio’s subsidiary, Fantagio M.
Despite this, netizens did some digging and caught the company out in what seems to be a lie. A netizen found a post from Eoyeoyeon Charcoal Grilled Eel that acknowledges the restaurant moved to Cheongdam.

“Hello! This is Ganghwa-do Eoyeoyeon Charcoal Grilled Eel’s CEO, Park Hyun Sun. Thanks to the past four years of experience and confidence we have gained from operating in Ganghwa-do, as well as the well-wishes of our customers, we have not only gone incorporated, but we will also be re-opening as Eoyeoyeon Cheongdam.”
This post directly contradicts Fantagio’s claims that the two have nothing to do with each other. It seems that the original Ganghwa-do restaurant re-opened themselves in the upscale district while also filing for incorporation.
The restaurant is at the forefront of Cha’s scandal given that it has been linked to both his one-man agency and his family. You can read more about it below.
