In the latest episode of TV star Jun Hyun Moo‘s Moo No Plan Season 3, WINNER member Kang Seungyoon revealed the shocking amount of money he made off his music copyright royalty.

During the broadcast, Jun Hyun Moo mentioned WINNER’s notable accomplishment of becoming the first male idol group to surpass 100 million streams. In response, Kang Seungyoon explained, “Most male idol songs that rack up a lot of streams usually top out at tens of millions per year, but ‘REALLY REALLY’ surpassed 100 million streams. It reached 100 million streams on domestic music platforms.”

The idol added that he personally handled both the lyrics and composition for “REALLY REALLY,” prompting Jun Hyun Moo to marvel that the copyright royalties must be enormous. Kang Seungyoon admitted, “With copyrights, you earn the most money at the moment when the song is at peak popularity. After that, as the popularity starts to decline, the income isn’t as high.”

When Jun Hyun Moo asked how much he earns in royalties, Kang Seungyoon revealed that he has been cashing five-figure monthly royalty checks!

Kang Seungyoon: It’s a lot of money, yes. It’s in the hundreds of millions of won range.

Jun Hyun Moo: Wow. That’s a real cash-cow song, then.

Released in 2017, “REALLY REALLY” made history by becoming the first male idol song to maintain a chart presence for 39 consecutive weeks while surpassing 100 million streams.
