Every season, Single’s Inferno viewers pick their favourite and least favourite singles who are looking for love on a desert island. Now, however, some fans are wondering if Netflix‘s subtitles have played a part in swaying their opinions.

On Reddit, a fan pointed out discrepancies between Lim Su Been‘s subtitles. The first version gives the impression that he spoke bluntly and was possibly annoyed by Park Hee Sun sitting next to him.
I’ve been watching singles inferno s5 on Netflix. While I was watching I found it so weird that Su Been said that “I wanted to sit with mina sue, but hee sun wouldn’t leave me alone.” Only to find out on tiktok that he didn’t actually say that💀 So now that is cleared im just wondering what scenes that us Netflix watchers see differently because of the mistranslation???!?

In response, other viewers pointed out how “wrongly translated” subtitles can make or break “viewers’ perception of a given cast member.” This moment in particular negatively affected a viewer’s opinion about Su Been.

Viewers watching the show with English CC (Closed Captioned) subtitles and those watching it with regular English subtitles seem to be having different experiences. Another subtle example is the playful jab Jo I Geon made at men during his Paradise date with Kim Go Eun in episode ten. The English subtitles say:
