The Cha Eun Woo tax evasion scandal started before his fellow agency mate Kim Sun Ho but that one wrapped up quickly (admission and apology and payment of taxes) while his seems to still be ongoing for whatever reason. For scandals its a double edged sword of concluding quickly to move on faster or drag on until hopefully the next news cycle mitigates the focus and impact. This week there was a rumor that Netflix was planning to air The Wonderfools, the completed drama starring Park Eun Bin and Cha Eun Woo, in a few months around May 2026. The streaming giant came out and actually denied it, which makes sense because his matter isn’t resolved and scheduling an airing with this unknown is just a risky move. But a sliver of positive news for Cha Eun Woo is that a civic tax organization has come out in support of him, not for the alleged tax evasion, but for the news that he was being investigated getting leaked. The organization says investigations into tax evasion are routine and doesn’t impute intentional wrongdoing, much less Cha Eun Woo’s investigation not being complete yet so he’s getting castigated by the public without having yet been found to have done something wrong. The org has filed a complaint with the government tax authorities over the release of his investigation being made public in the first place.
