While looking back at her now-successful and much-praised acting career, Han Ji Min confessed, “I wasn’t a naturally gifted actress,” adding, “Even after passing the audition, I was severely scolded during filming for [the 2003 K-Drama] All In because I was really bad at acting.”
I realized for the first time that filming was being delayed because of me, and that I was causing trouble. I went home and cried every day.

The struggle continued when she landed a lead role in another 2003 K-Drama, Good Person, shortly after. Han Ji Min explained, “Even though I was the lead, I knew nothing about how a set operated.”
If I ate a potato with my left hand in one take, I had to do the same in the next cut—but I switched to my right hand, and it became a big issue. These days, those basics are set up for you, but back then, they would just watch me and say, ‘Let’s see how she handles this,’ and then scold me if I did it differently.

Han Ji Min recalled, “I was just eating earnestly and enjoying the food, so I didn’t understand why I was being scolded, which made it even harder.” She revealed that during her rookie years, she agonized over whether she should continue pursuing acting if it meant causing inconvenience to others.
Fortunately for us, Han Ji Min did not give up—and now we’re blessed with her incredible on-screen presence. Practice does make perfect after all!
