BLACKPINK member and actress Jisoo is set to transform her acting with her first romantic comedy challenge, Boyfriend On Demand. Above all, she seems determined to silence the ongoing debates about her acting skills.

BLACKPINK Jisoo’s Acting Skills In Upcoming Drama Trailer Brought Into Debate

The production press conference for the Netflix drama Boyfriend On Demand was held on the 26th at the JW Marriott Hotel in Dongdaemun, Seoul. Lead actors Seo In Guk and Jisoo, along with director Kim Jung Sik, attended the event.

Boyfriend On Demand is a fantasy romance about a webtoon PD named Seo Mi Rae (played by Jisoo) who subscribes to a different themed boyfriend each month via a virtual reality device. Jisoo portrays a multifaceted character who is a powerless office worker in reality but transforms into various professionals and personas such as a flight attendant in the virtual world.

Regarding her first romance comedy challenge, Jisoo said, “Mi Rae is close to my age, so there were many relatable parts. Experiencing various virtual realities with changing jobs allowed me to immerse deeply into each situation.”

Her co-star Seo In Guk commented, “Mi Rae, as portrayed by Jisoo, was far more lovable and had a charm that made you want to embrace her beyond the script.”

One of the highlights of this work is Jisoo’s “visual transformation.” She shared, “I wore about 250 different outfits in this project. There were so many different themes prepared that it will definitely be enjoyable to watch.”

Particularly regarding the persistent “acting skills controversy” attached to Jisoo, director Kim Jung Sik responded with strong trust. He said, “Jisoo handled over 95% of the screen time flawlessly, perfectly performing various virtual reality characters. She worked very hard, and through seeing her on set, I realized that ‘effort can surpass talent.’”

Jisoo herself expressed confidence, saying, “Taking on various roles, I had more conversations with the director to show a better side this time. I worked hard to find acting that suits me, and I hope people will say that I found a character that fits perfectly in this project.”

It remains to be seen whether the dazzling visual appeal and Jisoo’s first romantic comedy challenge will captivate global viewers. Boyfriend On Demand will be released worldwide on Netflix on March 6.
