Actor Jin Tae Hyun has spoken out directly after receiving numerous recommendations for in vitro fertilization (IVF) directed at him and his wife, actress Park Si Eun.
On the 18th, Jin Tae Hyun began by saying, “My wife and I always love, cherish, appreciate, respect, acknowledge, care for, and put each other first.” He continued, “Many fans still send me DMs with advice on good hospitals and treatment methods, urging me not to give up on having a second child. But we haven’t given up; we have now decided to let go for the sake of our love alone.”
He added, “If we had wanted to rely on medical treatments like IVF, we would have done so long ago. Even now, I love my wife more than the idea of children, so I have no intention of causing her physical or emotional pain in the future. So please, stop sending us those DMs.” He shared, “Our journey hasn’t been easy. We have endured deep, untold wounds, my wife’s great pain, my surgery — it hasn’t been all good. But we hold onto the belief that hardship is a blessing and keep going.” He concluded by saying they will now focus more on their love.
Jin Tae Hyun and Park Si Eun met in 2010 while filming the drama Pumpkin Flower Pure Love, grew closer as a couple, and married in 2015. They adopted a university student named Se Yeon, whom they came to know through volunteer work, and renamed her Park Tabitha as their daughter. Their family life was also shared on SBS’s Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 – You Are My Destiny.
The couple suffered miscarriages over the years. Despite the hardship, they openly spoke about their experiences, receiving much support. In 2021, during a Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 homecoming special, they revealed that although she successfully became pregnant in November 2020, she experienced a missed miscarriage a month later. They faced another loss in May 2021.
In 2022, they succeeded in getting pregnant again with great difficulty. They announced the pregnancy cautiously after reaching the safe period in February but sadly shared the news of a stillbirth just 20 days before the due date, which saddened many.
In January of this year, the couple announced they would stop trying for a second child, adding, “This decision came after a long time of prayer and consideration.”
