Actress Kim Hye Yoon opened up about the pain she faced during her long period of obscurity.
On the episode of the tvN variety show Fresh off the Sea in Calape broadcast on April 30, Kim Hye Yoon was seen having an honest conversation with Yeom Jeong Ah, Park Jun Myeon, and Dex.
In the episode, Kim Hye Yoon recalled the difficult years of obscurity she experienced after starting acting at age 17. She described how even after becoming an adult, she mostly played student roles, gradually building her acting skills from minor parts and confessed, “The process was very tough.”
She openly shared the frustration caused by her physical condition. “I was rejected in shootings and auditions because of my height,” she revealed, adding, “My short height felt like a disadvantage.”
However, she never lost her uniquely strong inner resolve despite setbacks. Kim Hye Yoon calmly said, “I always thought it was just projects that didn’t suit me,” and “I believed that someday there would be a place that would like even my height.”
Warm encouragement from her colleagues followed. Dex cheered, “Being small is a charm, isn’t it?” and senior actress Yeom Jeong Ah looked on affectionately, saying, “The way you act standing on tiptoes is cute.”
Following her breakthrough with the drama Sky Castle, rising to stardom with Lovely Runner, and firmly establishing herself with The Girl on a Bulldozer, Kim Hye Yoon’s recent confession sheds light again on the arduous period she endured to reach her current position.
