Hyeri, Kim So-yeon
- Production is on the move for the action-comedy Treat Her with Caution (roughly translated), which reportedly has Hyeri (Friendly Rivalry) becoming an undercover black ops agent, dedicated to keeping the neighborhood peace. But shenanigans ensue of course when her seemingly normal and nice guy husband turns out to be the baddie causing mayhem in the streets. Based on the 2017 Japanese drama Caution, Hazardous Wife, the Korean remake has writer Kim Ryu-hyun (Switch) attached to pen the scripts. [MHN Sports, My Daily]
- Kim So-yeon (A Virtuous Business) is said to be considering a new romance in the works, which is now called Rediscovering Dating (roughly translated) and was previously known by its initial tentative title, Rediscovering Divorce (roughly translated). Currently in the early stages of planning, the team is in discussions to broadcast on JTBC and is aiming to release sometime in September of this year. [Newsen, Xports News]
Kim Mu-yeol, Lee El
- Kim Mu-yeol (Queen Woo) is in talks to join the medical ranks in First Doctor and if the stars align, he’ll be co-starring alongside Jung Ryeo-won (The Midnight Romance in Hagwon). The series is expected to be picked up by Netflix, and has PD Hong Jong-chan (Mr. Plankton) at the helm with scripts by Kim Min-seok. Notably, Kim Mu-yeol has worked with the two previously on Netflix’s Juvenile Justice and is already on a second round with PD Hong on Netflix’s upcoming Teach You a Lesson. [iZE]
- Casting continues for Spirited Meal (working title) as well, with Lee El (Surely Tomorrow) reported to be added to the lineup, potentially alongside a gangster and chef Jang Geun-seok (Bait). Directed by PD Lee Min-woo (Not Others), production for the Japanese novel-adaptation is preparing to start filming once the main cast has been finalized. The story was also remade into the Japanese drama Otoko Meshi in 2016. [Ilgan Sports, Newsen]
- In the meantime, MBC is now days away from Perfect Crown and has delivered an extended video teaser ahead of this week’s premiere on April 10. Starring IU (When Life Gives You Tangerines), Byun Woo-seok (Lovely Runner), Noh Sang-hyun (Genie Make a Wish), and Gong Seung-yeon (My Lovely Journey), the fantasy romance is being led by PD Park Joon-hwa (Love Your Enemy, Alchemy of Souls), PD Bae Hee-young (Love Your Enemy, Cinderella at 2AM), as well as rookie writer Yoo Ji-won (winner of MBC’s 2022 writing contest).
