Heo Nam-joon
- Heo Nam-joon (My Royal Nemesis) is reviewing an offer for a new series on SBS called Currency Reform (roughly translated), potentially setting course for a rags-to-riches journey in the webtoon-adaptation. If Heo accepts, he’ll be playing our story hero who finds himself in a competitive game of succession when he suddenly becomes an heir candidate to a rich-but-dead dad that he never knew he had. Production is currently in the early stages. [Ilgan Sports, Xports News]
- Casting continues for MBN’s What a Boss Wants, with CNBLUE’s Lee Jung-shin (7 Escape – Resurrection) now joining the lineup to play a pediatrician in the webnovel and webtoon-adaptation. Reportedly headlined by Sung Hoon (The Defects) and Oh Se-young (The Judge Returns), the romance is expected to broadcast sometime this November. The drama has PD Kang Sol (My Lovely Journey) directing with writing by Nam Ji-yeon (Bittersweet Hell). [Newsen]
- A new Silla-era sageuk called Seorabeol Knife (working title) is also in the works, which refers to an older name for Silla and/or its capital region. The fantasy timeslip has Cha Eun-woo (The WONDERfools) in talks to star as an Italian-cuisine chef who will presumably romance a Seorabeol princess. And if this setup sounds familiar, that’s because this shares the same universe as Bon Appetit Your Majesty and will be helmed by the same PD Jang Tae-yoo (Knight Flower, Hyena). - tvN has come out with a new video teaser, tuning the tale for Four Hands Two Sonatas with our three leads: Song Kang (Sweet Home 3), Lee Jun-young (Reborn Rookie), and Jang Gyuri (When the Phone Rings). With their friendship battered by insecurities, jealousy, and angst, their story of growth begins on August 29, unfolding over weekends following Spooky in Love. Production is being led by PD Park Hyun-seok (Song of the Bandits, Forest of Secrets 2) and writer Shin Yi-won (Don’t Call Me Ma’am). [Newsen]
- On ENA, the army bugle alerts us to the latest poster and extended trailer for New Recruit 4. Saluting in Season 4 with Kim Min-ho (Spooky in Love), Kim Dong-joon (Siren’s Kiss), and Oh Dae-hwan (Filing for Love) among others in our soldier troops, the black comedy’s upcoming sequel will be coming to our screens on August 24. Also starring newcomers Lee Hyun-kyun (The Apartment Job) and Lee Won-jung (Doctor on the Edge), the 12-episode series will follow Dream to You in the Monday-Tuesday slot. [Newsen]
