A popular female K-Pop idol showed a self-critical side despite trying to have self-love, evoking sympathy.
Recently, the YouTube channel Tto Tto Kwon released a video titled “About to fall asleep but suddenly talking about love.” In the video, dancer Kwon Tto Tto invited Chungha, Jeon Somi, and Yoo Yeonjung—who recently made a comeback with I.O.I—and they shared updates on their lives.
Kwon Tto Tto said, “Today, I invited friends I can talk to comfortably,” adding, “I mostly worked with Chungha during my dancer career, and I also invited Yeonjung and Somi, who I knew indirectly, so we could spend time together.”
She further created a warm atmosphere by delivering chicken feet and various fried foods for the three, who were exhausted from their grueling schedules.
While exchanging news, Kwon Tto Tto asked the three, “Have you ever thought about loving yourself?” Jeon Somi opened up, saying, “I think about that a lot.” Holding triple citizenship from South Korea, Canada, and the Netherlands, she explained, “Abroad, people especially emphasize ‘love yourself.’ That was difficult for me, so I came to think simply that it means ‘accepting myself and being kind to myself.’”
She continued, “I was often self-critical about eating, too, because my job is one that’s inevitably visible,” revealing her struggles. Despite her trying to self-love, she constantly felt the burden of weight management and dieting due to the nature of her profession. Chungha empathized, adding, “It’s the pressure to be thin.“
