Recently, Chinese actress Gina Jin (Chen Jin) has been facing fallout over her alleged hit-and-run.

In late January, the allegations surfaced on Weibo, connected to an incident that occurred on March 16, 2025. According to reports, she was driving a car when she crashed while swerving to avoid a dog in Keqiao District, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province.
After the accident, Gina Chen allegedly had her staff take the fall as she fled the scene immediately during the traffic police investigation. She is alleged to have concealed the truth and is suspected of insurance fraud.
The insurance company involved alerted the public, which has taken a negative toll on her image.
Cosmetics brand Clarins cancelled a scheduled livestream and has removed promotional images of her. With the sudden shift in opinion and the way blacklisting can occur in China, several of her dramas are also at risk of being shelved.

The actress has since shared an apology, revealing she suffered facial injuries and went to the hospital rather than fleeing.
Still, depending on exactly how the incident played out, Gina Jin could have possibly broken criminal law and face jail time. Even if she is only found to have broken civic law, only time will tell how the industry reacts to her alleged deception.
