BLACKPINK Jennie’s All Cash, 15 Million USD Purchase Turns Heads

It has been belatedly confirmed that BLACKPINK’s Jennie purchased a building near Hannam New Town for ₩20.0 billion KRW (about $13.7 million USD).

According to investment banking (IB) and real estate industry sources on February 11, Jennie bought a building located in Dongbinggo-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in May of last year for ₩20.0 billion KRW (about $13.7 million USD) and completed the ownership transfer in December of the same year. Since no separate mortgage was registered on the property records, it is presumed to have been a full cash purchase.

The building, originally completed in 1970, is located in the northern part of Dongbinggo-dong, an area known for its concentration of ambassadorial residences. It is currently being used as the Embassy of Iraq in Korea. The property has a land area of 595㎡ and a total floor area of 551.08㎡, spanning one basement level and two above-ground floors. The price per pyeong (3.3㎡) is estimated at approximately ₩111 million KRW (about $76,200 USD).

The Dongbinggo-dong area Jennie invested in is seeing growing development momentum, tied to the nearby Hannam New Town redevelopment and the creation of Yongsan Park. The Hannam 5 redevelopment zone is already underway to the south, and the former U.S. military transportation base site is also being developed into a luxury residential complex. Along with the UN Command site and the planned Camp Kim development, it is considered one of the three major returned U.S. military sites in the area.

Meanwhile, Jennie, who remains highly active both with her group and as a solo artist — is being praised for showcasing her “young and rich” status through bold real estate investments. Last year, she rented an entire newly built building in Hannam-dong as the new headquarters for her one-person agency, Odd Atelier (OA), with the monthly rent reportedly exceeding ₩60.0 million KRW (about $41,200 USD) In 2023, she also purchased a luxury villa in UN Village for ₩5.00 billion KRW (about $3.43 million USD) in full cash.
