Not everyone agrees with the hate Jisoo is receiving.

BLACKPINK‘s Jisoo is now facing boycotts from Korean netizens due to her brother’s recent scandal.

The idol’s brother, Kim Jung Hun, was recently embroiled in a sexual misconduct scandal, and the fallout has spilled onto Jisoo. Some people have announced they’ll stop watching her projects and streaming her music in response.

One such post has gone viral with hundreds of upvotes on Pann. However, the post also points out that bashing and leaving hate comments about her is wrong.

Honestly, it’s true that you’d be put off by the family of a sex offender.

So personally, I won’t be watching any films or K-Dramas featuring Jisoo, won’t be listening to her music, and will be boycotting her. But that’s just me choosing not to spend my money on her or give her any attention. What I genuinely cannot wrap my head around is people actively going out of their way to trash her and leave hate comments. Celebrities make their living off attention, so if you really can’t stand them, stop boosting their profile by chasing them down and just block them whenever they pop up so they stop appearing on your feed.

    — Viral post on Pann

In the comments, many netizens agreed with the OP. The general consensus was simple: if you don’t like her, stop giving her attention.

    • “This applies not just to controversial celebrities but to the entertainment industry as a whole, honestly lol. If you want a celebrity to fail = cut them off completely and stop consuming their content entirely, that’s the way to go lol. They say no comments are scarier than hate comments, and if you truly want them to fail, you should stop both stanning and hating. But usually when it comes to popular celebrities, both the haters and the fans are way too active, so the buzz never really dies down…”
    • “Even if it was her brother who did it, if people have lost their affection for her just because she’s family, then that’s that, nothing you can do. But going around harassing his sister over a misogynistic crime committed by a Korean man is genuinely unhinged lol. It says a lot that even the victim herself posted a statement twice asking people not to go after her other innocent family members.”
    • “But the people who are obsessed with hating on Jisoo. What exactly did they want her to do? Was Jisoo, the youngest sister, supposed to have been following her brother around — a man nearly 40 years old — keeping tabs on his every move and managing his life for him…?? lol. Why is it that in this country, whenever a Korean man does something wrong, the default is always to blame the mum, the older sister, or the younger sister? And the fact that it’s other women doing this, targeting his female family members instead of the man himself, is genuinely bizarre.”
    • “Well, any reasonable person would think along these lines, that’s for sure. ‘But isn’t it wrong for the conversation to go off track with people going after his family? I genuinely have zero stake in this as a non-Jisoo fan, but this is a case of a Korean man doing what Korean men do. And now, just because his sister happens to be an idol, all the arrows are flying her way, and it’s only breaking the focus on the actual male perpetrator. In my view, this isn’t something Jisoo deserves to be condemned for by association. Not because I feel sorry for Jisoo, but because this situation needs to stay focused on properly supporting the victim and making sure the perpetrator faces serious punishment. It can’t be allowed to spiral into “wait, his sister is Jisoo?! Oh, let’s go after Jisoo!!!” — losing the plot entirely and ending up being absolutely no help to the victim whatsoever.’”
    • “But setting everything else aside. What’s the point of insulting a woman over a misogynistic crime committed by a Korean man lol. That just makes them no better than that misogynistic man themselves.”
